Nebraska v. Ohio State: Historic Programs Collide for First B1G Game at Memorial Stadium

Posted in Uncategorized

The Ohio State pays its first visit to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Huskers’ first Big Ten home football game. Though the Meltdown in Madison was hard to take there is still palpable excitement for this game. OSU comes into this game at 3-2 after a low scoring hard fought loss to the Michigan State Spartans. The Buckeyes were supposed to be getting back their suspended players for this game but, under the heading of “when it rains it pours,” it looks like there may be more trouble out of Columbus. Reports are that there are additional “pay for play” allegations which may extend the suspensions of some players and possibly add new suspensions for others. While this is good news for the Huskers on the grid iron one of the Big Ten’s best programs continues to circle the drain.

On the field there should be plenty of emotion to go around. Nebraska should be fired up to properly introduce itself to the B1G. Nebraska has a chance to wash away the memory of the Wisconsin game by further picking on a program going through tough times. Look for Martinez and Burkhead to grind away tough yards on the ground and for NU to ditch any thoughts that Martinez was the next Peyton Manning. If NU controls the ground game it doesn’t look like OSU will be able to muster much offense having scored 6, 17 and 7 points in the last three games.
